Putting People and Communities First
A commitment to practical solutions that strengthen communities and support working families across the district.
Affordable Healthcare
The “Big Beautiful Bill” just cut a trillion dollars from health programs, causing premiums to rise and 10 million Americans to lose coverage. We need representatives who will fight for Medicare options, fair drug pricing, and healthcare access.
Affordable Education
Education is an investment, not an expense. We’re fighting to end predatory student loans, support our teachers, and ensure every child in Indiana’s 4th District gets a quality education—regardless of their ZIP code.
Affordable Housing
When young people can’t afford to live where they grew up, our communities suffer. We have proven solutions—partnerships that work, reforms that cut costs, and programs that help first-time buyers. It’s time to make owning a home accessible for working families.

// Why Choose Joe
A Leader Who Listens, Cares, and Stands Strong
Joe believes public service begins with respect for people, honesty in decision-making, and the determination to keep showing up for the community.
Compassion
Joe Mackey is a compassionate leader, and that’s a big part of why he’s running. He wants to serve Hoosiers and be a strong voice for them in Congress.
He was deeply troubled seeing children and seniors struggle to get enough to eat during the 2025 government shutdown. He’s also concerned about Hoosiers who could lose access to affordable healthcare if ACA tax breaks are eliminated.
Joe believes Congress has a responsibility to serve the people and provide real oversight and balance in government. He’s committed to working with anyone — from either party — to make sure Americans get the support and stability they deserve.
Joe understands the real challenges families face and believes leadership starts with listening and putting people first.
Integrity
Joe is committed to honesty, accountability, and doing what’s right — even when it isn’t easy.
In 2018, after losing the primary race for Congress, Joe Mackey did something few people would do — he offered to help the candidate who defeated him.
He believes that even in tough moments, people should support each other and work toward what’s best for the community. He followed through by volunteering to help her general election campaign in the 4th Congressional District.
That same mindset continues today. In this race, Joe has shared information with some of his opponents to help them become stronger candidates. He believes Hoosiers deserve good people willing to step up and serve.
Integrity isn’t something Joe turns on for a campaign — it’s how he lives and how he leads.
Resilience
Joe Mackey has faced losses no parent should ever have to endure. Over 30 months, he and his wife Tami lost two of their three children to cancer. Instead of letting grief define them, they turned it into purpose — creating a nonprofit to support families whose children are fighting cancer.
Joe understands that running for office is demanding and often thankless work. It means long hours on the road, time away from home, and constant effort to meet people, listen, and earn trust.
He first ran for Congress in 2018, traveling across the district to learn its communities firsthand. In 2020, with a full campaign team, he earned nearly 113,000 votes — the highest total ever received by a Democrat running for this seat.
Joe believes serving others is worth the effort. His life experiences have shaped his resilience, his compassion, and his commitment to being a strong voice for Hoosiers in Washington.
